This year we have decided to expand our Work in Progress section with the intention of supporting films that have a final cut as well as productions that are in the editing process. 

Narrative or documentary feature-length films in editing or post-production stage, produced by or co-produced with Mexico (at least 60 minutes length) are eligible for submission.

Eight films in editing and post-production stage will be selected to participate in the GFFF-Meetings and will be able to compete for the award stipulated for this category, in addition to having access to the following benefits:





Cinecolor México - Shalala - FirePit Award: $400,000.00 MXN (four  hundred thousand Mexican pesos) in image post-production services which are equivalent to 90 hours of color correction maximum, 2k or 4k, 1 DCP master and a subtitled DCP, a low Qt for sound and a Qt master. Audio post-production services equivalent to $500,000.00 MXN (five hundred thousand pesos), that include: sound design, dialog editing, creation and editing of BGS, creation and editing of general Foleys, creation and editing of SFX and SPSFX, parcial ADR, premix 5.1 and deliveries.

ArtKingdom Award: With a commercial value of $497,000.00 (four hundred and ninety-seven thousand pesos). This award consists of:  development of a sales presentation, teaser of up to 45 seconds, trailer of up to 2 minutes, and the concept and design of a poster for the project. 


  1. The current call for entries will be open from from August 4th, 2021 through September 17th, 2021 before 7:00 pm (CST).

  2. The eight selected Mexican films (either in the editing or post-production stage) will be announced in the festival’s official website and social media channels on September 28, 2021.

  3. The representatives of the selected films must commit to participate in the GFFF-Meetings sessions that will take place online from November 15 to 17, 2021, during the Festival’s 10th edition.

  4. Winners of  the Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund – Work in Progress will be announced during the closing ceremony of the tenth edition of  Los Cabos International Film Festival (November 17th).



Representatives of the eight selected films of Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund – Work in Progress will obtain:

  1. Participation in the GFFF-Meetings (one-on-one sessions online with professionals of the international film industry, production companies, international film festivals, distributors, sales agents, on-demand streaming platforms, financiers, etc.).

  2. Industry accreditation for both representatives of the project (director and producer).

  3. Twenty-minutes online digital screening of the most representative scene or scenes of the film, only for industry delegates (distributors, sales agents and representatives of film festivals, among others).



  1. Applications must be submitted in English or Spanish through the Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund - WIP application form.

  2. Feature-length films applying for GFFF - Work in Progress must be at least 60 minutes length.

  3. The films selected in previous editions cannot be submitted again in the same category.

  4. Upon completion, all participating films must include Los Cabos International Film Festival and Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund logos on the film’s credits and all promotional materials.

  5. The awarded films must commit to include the logos of Los Cabos International Film Festival and Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund in the initial credits of the film, including the legend: With the support of.

  6. The Festival reserves the right to disqualify any entry that fails to submit all the required information.

  7. All applications imply consent and acknowledgment of our Rules and Regulations.

  8. Any concerns not contemplated within the present Call for Entries will be resolved by the Organizing Committee.

  1. To guarantee a thorough technical review of the submitted files, the material that will be screened online must be sent digitally before October 20 2021.

  2. The festival will provide secure fast data transfer links to the selected films.

  3. The festival platform will allow the safe showing of films only for industry delegates registered to Los Cabos International Film Festival, through user control, watermarks, geographic limitation and monitoring of views.
