 In its 2022 edition, Los Cabos International Film Festival is proud to present the Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund Call for Entries.

This year, the categories for projects in development stage and films in post-production will be joined together under the umbrella of a single call for entries, which will encompass: projects in development, productions that are about to start shooting, and films with existing footage or that are starting the editing process.


This Call for Entries is open for feature-film projects, fiction or documentary, produced or co-produced by Mexico. 


The eight selected projects will participate in a series of Professional Meetings with the Festival's high-level Industry Guests.


The selected projects will compete for the following:



1.  CTT EXP & Rentals Award: With a value of $1,276,000.00 MXN (one million two hundred and seventy-six thousand Mexican pesos taxes included ) for the film’s producer, in rental of filming equipment for four weeks. 

2. CINECOLOR - Shalala  - FirePit Award: $417,600.00 MXN (four hundred seventeen thousand and six hundred Mexican pesos taxes included) for the producer of a Mexican film in post-production.  Includes: 100 hours of color correction maximum, 1 DCP master and a subtitled DCP, a low Qt for sound and a delivery master. In conjunction with Shalalá and FirePit, another prize will also be awarded with a value of $250,000.00 MXN (two hundred and fifty thousand Mexican pesos, taxes included) applicable to post production services, audio design and/or Dolby Atmos audio mixing for broadcast.

3. Chemistry Award: With a value of $946,000.00 MXN (nine hundred and forty-six thousand Mexican pesos taxes included) in image post-production services for the producer of the winning project: 90 hours of color correction, digital intermediate, deliveries, DCP and backups. 

4. Piano Award: A cash prize of $50,000.00 MXN (fifty thousand Mexican pesos taxes included) for first and second-time films. This prize will be granted to the producer of the project in order to promote the commercial premiere of the completed film. In order to support the consolidation of the financial scheme of the film during its development stage, PIANO will provide a letter of intent for its domestic distribution. 

5. Project exchange with The Gotham: One project will be selected to participate in the Gotham Week Project Market.




1.  The current call for entries will be open from July 15,  2022, to August 27, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. (CST). 

2. The selected projects will be announced on October 4, 2022 through Los Cabos International Film Festival’s official website and social media.

3. The project representatives must commit to participate in the GFFF-Industry Meetings, which will take place from November 10 to 12, 2022, during the Los Cabos International Film Festival’s eleventh edition.

4. The announcement of the winners will take place during the Festival Closing Ceremony on November 12, 2022.




Each one of the eight selected projects will be offered the following:


  • Accommodation for one representative of each project from November 9 to 13 at Los Cabos International Film Festival host hotel.

  • Round flight (within Mexican territory) for one representative of each project. 

  • Industry badge for one representative of each selected project. 


The project representatives will take part in the Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund Industry Meetings consisting of one-on-one sessions with outstanding professionals from the international film industry such as sales agents, distributors, production companies, representatives from international film festivals, television networks, on-demand streaming platforms, OTTs, etc.


Projects with filmed footage or a first cut will also participate in a special screening -up to 20 min of footage per project- exclusively for Festival Industry participants. 



1.  Feature-length films produced or co-produced by Mexico are eligible to participate.

2. The projects submitted must indicate whether the representatives wish to showcase footage of said project at Los Cabos International Film Festival's special screening for Industry delegates.

3. All submitted projects must have a producer who has produced and premiered at least one feature film, either fiction or documentary, in commercial theaters and/or festivals. Credits as associate producer, production manager or executive producer will not be considered.

4. Applications must be submitted in English or Spanish through the Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund application form.

5. The projects selected in previous editions cannot be submitted again except for projects that were previously selected in development stage and now wish to participate as films in edition stage.

6. The Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund will invite two projects from Canada and one from the United States to participate in the Industry meetings. However, only the Mexican productions or co-productions will compete for the awards. 

7. The winners must agree to insert the logos of the Los Cabos International Film Festival and the Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund in the film’s opening credits, together with the caption: With the support of.

8. The Festival reserves the right to disqualify any entry that fails to submit all the required information on the registration form.

9. By submitting a project to this call for entries, each participant thereby agrees to its Rules and Regulations.

10. Any concerns not contemplated within the present Call for Entries will be decided by the Organizing Committee.

15. In case there is footage of the project or even a first cut of it, please provide a link and password to review the material.

16. Please provide detailed information of the process needed to complete the film.

17.  Financial scheme. PDF document detailing both the secured and the pending financing, as well as the potential financing sources and whether it is in kind or in cash (maximum 4MB)

18. Tentative release date.

19.  Attach a PDF (maximum 5MB) with the following elements:

  • Tentative creative crew (cinematography, production design (for narrative films only) and sound design. 

  • Proposed cast (for narrative films only).

  • Mood-board (it can be from the film in general and/or the most representative scenes). 

  • If available, enclose documents supporting awards, agreements, letters of intention and/or contracts ascribed to the project. Also, any additional documentation deemed relevant by the applicant.
